Standing stark against silent desert backdrops like sculptures made for Burning Man, these leftover Soviet structures are actually bus stops scattered throughout one of the most sparsely populated regions on Earth.
Photographer Christopher Herwigfollowed bus routes from Estonia to Armenia to photograph odd little roadside shelters in former Soviet satellite states for a new book.
Interesting post. Thank you for sharing. I have a big question for the first sculpture. Do you have any clue that what it is used for or for purely artistic purpose? I am thinking about a solar energy project 🙂
Again, thank you and wish you all the best.

What a good question. I would like to think that it’s using solar power or some bright spark thinks it could make the air cooler.
But there doesn’t appear to be any power points. What was in the mind of the designer? Keep Safe Rod.
