Rob is on the Sick List at the moment, Get Better and Keep Well mate.
Rob Powell worked in the Hot Metal Jobbing Room at Netley during the 1970s and ran the GPD Social Club for some years before leaving with wife Wendy for a life in Darwin.
Rob was originally from Henley Beach and a long time member of the Henley Footy Club and a West Adelaide footy club supporter.
Wendy disliked Darwin because of the heat and humidity and made Rob take her to bloody cold old Canberra where they stayed for a number of years before coming back to Adelaide.
Wendy’s main claim to fame in her life in Canberra is she once met former Prime Minister John Howard. She didn’t realise how short he was.
They have two children Ben and Jane and a number of grandchildren.
They regularly attend our Luncheons in between baby sitting duties in both Canberra and northern Queensland.
