I can’t say enough about the Don Sheldon Mountain House.
It had been on my bucket list for a long time before I was able to finally visit it, but it was completely worth the wait.
Situated on a peak in Ruth Glacier, it provides a singularly spectacular view of Denali.
Don was a master glacier pilot who constructed the house by flying in materials tied to the wing struts of his plane.
Don’s legacy is incredible and worth reading up on.
I love that he not only pioneered a lot of glacial exploration in Alaska, but he provided a place of refuge for future generations of explorers.
