“The first was a theater-based Mickey Mouse Club started on 4 January, 1930 at 12 noon at the Fox Dome Theater in Ocean Park, California with 60 Theaters hosting clubs by 31 March.
The Club released its first issue of the Official Bulletin of the Mickey Mouse Club on 15 April, 1930.
By 1932, the Club had 1 million members, and in 1933 its first British club opened at Darlington’s Arcade Cinema. In 1935, with so many clubs around the world, Disney begins to phase out the club.”SHORPY_03966uAnnette Joanne Funicello (October 22, 1942 – April 8, 2013) was an American actress and singer. Funicello began her professional career as a child performer at the age of twelve.
She rose to prominence as one of the most popular “Mouseketeers” on the original Mickey Mouse Club. As a teenager, she transitioned to a successful career as a singer with the pop singles “O Dio Mio,” “Tall Paul” and “Pineapple Princess“, as well as establishing herself as a film actress, popularizing the successful “Beach Party” genre alongside co-star Frankie Avalon during the mid-1960s.
